Hey! I am a teacher! I've always wanted to be a teacher! I have always loved freshly sharpened pencils, new school supplies, read alouds, and just about everything involving school. I even enjoyed worksheets and book reports as a child.
As a child, I struggled with reading comprehension. I was not noticed with this problem until 7th grade because my fluency (the way I read aloud) was great. So, in 7th grade, instead of a wondeful elective like Art or Swimming, I had to take a remedial reading class. I was convinced I was placed wrong so I did everything I could to make the best of the situation. I sat in the front of the room, listened to every word the FANTASTIC teacher said, and worked my tail off to make sure when I retook the test to get me out of the class, I would pass. Well, the remediation worked! I passed with flying colors! Since that class, my passion to teach students has never wavered.
I have always loved to read. Now I had a purpose. I wanted to teach kids to love reading, and read successfully. Hence this blog....................reading the best children's books out there.......Newbery Books!
